This is the last straw! Amazon has rolled out a new Kindle feature called “Ask This Book.” It lets reader type questions about the book they’re reading and get AI-generated answers right inside the Kindle app. Sounds great, right?
But this means AI is shaping how the text is understood. This feature can explain, summarize and interpret what AI thinks the writer means. The writer never gets to see the answers or fix any mistakes or misinterpretations. Plus, it alters the text by adding a layer the writer never intended.
This in my opinion (and the opinion of Author’s Guild) is copyright infringement. And it’s the last straw for me. I am withdrawing all my books from Amazon. Please don’t look for them there.
