NaNoWriMo 2013 Over and Out

The task of writing a 50,000 word novel in the month of November is over. Actually, I made it to 53,000 words. Admittedly, what I’ve written is not the next great Canadian novel, but with a little work it might aspire to something greater.

I decided not to write historical fiction this year. There’s just too much research involved and I’m still rewriting the historical novel I did two years ago. However, I did discover that writing a story that happened in 2001 is also a historical novel in some ways, and there’s still a little research that needs to be done.

What I learned about myself in this adventure is that I have no trouble at all in writing 1800 words a day. It usually only takes me an hour and a half. I should make it a daily practice, but I probably won’t.
