Read Locally

I can't believe the response I've gotten to the Book Fair so far. There will be at least 20 tables representing 35 or more writers filling the immense hall at First Metropolitan United on March 18. So mark that date in your calendar if you're in Victoria because you won't want to miss this unique chance to talk to a local writer and purchase a signed book.

There are so many good writers in this city. The Greater Victoria Public Library has a series called Emerging Local Authors and every year they take books from local writers and feature them in the main downtown library. They've been doing this for almost ten years and they've featured thousands of books. Last year alone there were more than 200 titles. If you've ever read some of those books, you might want to drop in and meet the author. Writers love to hear from their readers.

I promise there will be something for everyone-- children's books, memoir, novels of every genre, non-fiction, humour, poetry-- you name it, we'll have it. Just like a bookstore, except that all the books are written by local writers and they'll all be in one place for March 18 only. So, don't miss out.
