Why do I write? Writing is my greatest pleasure. It is a gift from God and a gift for God.
And what is God? God is a spirit, the spirit that infuses the universe. For me, God is synonymous with life. The universe is the Body of God. God speaks to me through the beauty of the universe and the beauty of the everyday world, the trees swaying in the wind, the flowers, everything, but most especially, life itself, the most precious gift of all.
Why are we here? We are here to enjoy the beauty of this precious life. God is waiting for my words, for me to tell God what it is to be a human on this earth, to tell my story. God is waiting. There is nothing I can do on this earth as important as writing a love letter to God each and every day.
And so, this June, I am giving a workshop at First-Metropolitan United Church in Victoria, BC, Canada on the spirituality of writing for those who share my passion for the word. If you are one of the creatures of God who loves to create through story, come join us on Monday evenings from 7 to 8:30 or Thursday afternoons from 1:30 to 3, or both times if you are really a zealot like me.
