Victoria Writers’ Society has a writing contest every year. There are three categories: fiction, non-fiction and poetry, and the prizes in each are $300 for first and $200 for second. There are also two honourable mentions in each category and publication of all winning entries in Island Writer magazine.
The contest is open to writers from Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands and the deadline for the contest is June first. The cost is $25 and entries should be sent to contest@victoriawriters.com. You can mail in the entry fee to Victoria Writers’ Contest, PO Box 8311, Victoria, BC, V8W 3R9 or e-transfer it to treasurer@victoriawriters.com
